Did you know that Volusia County uses a countywide emergency notification system to alert citizens about emergency situations? Including hazmat and wildfire evacuations, hostage situations, rabid animals, lost Alzheimer's patients, boil water notices, escaped inmates, sink holes and more?
The system is GPS based and operational 24/7. BUT!!! If you're primary phone is your cell phone or unlisted number, you have to sign up to be included in the call-down database. Make it a goal to keep you family better informed and hopefully safer in 2013. Visit the Volusia County's Database Signup Link and make sure your family numbers are in the system.
