Solid Waste FAQ's

  • Where can I store my Waste Pro bin(s)? The answer is “away from the front of any building or premise” so not on the front face of the house. The side of the house is fine. (Section 50-28, 9)
  • How do I start my Solid Waste service? Garbage, recycling and yard waste services in the City of Deltona are automatic. Just place your 96-gallon bin and your recycling container at the curb before 6 a.m. the day of your service. To find out when your collection days are, call (386) 574-0778 or visit the Solid Waste Division at DeltonaFl.Gov and click “Recycling & Garbage Map." (Section 50-28, 1)
  • How many garbage bins can I put out? You are allowed a maximum of two bins, one bin provided by Waste Pro and a second equivalent style bin rented from Waste Pro or purchased from a local hardware store. (Section 50-3 and 50-28,2)
  • When does Waste Pro collect the garbage and recycling? Garbage is collected once a week for all residences on designated days between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. (Section 50-29, 3) Bins should be placed at the curb no earlier than 6 p.m. the day prior to collection day and carts should be removed from the front yard the same evening, no later than 9 p.m. (Section 50-28, 5-e)
  • Can I take bulk items to the curb? “Excess material shall NOT be placed outside the bin.” (Section 50-28, 2), bulk items by calling Waste Pro at (386) 574-0723. Residents are allowed to schedule one (1) large item or two (2) small items per week. Excessive bulk items may be scheduled for an additional fee.
  • How do I request a garbage bin or recycling container? Call Waste Pro, (386) 574-0778 or email, jamaro@wasteprousa.com. New property owners will be asked to provide proof of ownership.
  • What do I do with branches and limbs? Branches or limbs should be bundled or placed in the garbage bin or other container. They should be cut to 4-feet long or less, not be greater than 6-inches in diameter and neatly piled at the curb on yard waste day only. You are allowed a maximum of 16 bags or bundles of yard trash. (Section 50-28,4)
  • I am disabled and cannot get my bins to the curb? Waste Pro offers “Side-Door Service” for those that can provide documentation from a physician regarding the disability or a disability registration and matching driver’s license. For information call, Waste Pro, (386) 574-0778.
  • What do I do with used motor oil, paint or gasoline? Waste Pro does not pick up hazardous materials such as motor oil, batteries, pesticides, gasoline, pool chemicals, paint or paint thinners. These are accepted at the West Volusia Transfer Station located at 3151 East New York Ave., DeLand, The station is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays.   • How do I dispose of sharps (needles)? Sharps can be dropped off at any City of Deltona Fire Station or Florida Department of Health location. Replacement sharps containers may be available at City of Deltona Fire Stations.
  • Will Waste Pro pick up my large cardboard boxes? Yes. Cardboard boxes should be broken down, folded or cut and placed in the recycling container. If it doesn't fix in the recycle container please contact  Waste Pro to schedule a bulk pick up @ (386)574-0723
  • Will Waste Pro pick up my real/live Christmas tree? Yes. On yard waste day as long as it is free of tinsel and other decorations.
  • Will Waste Pro pickup old tires? Yes. Two (2) tires (without rims). Contact Waste Pro prior to placing out to schedule the pick up. Waste Pro (386)574-0723. You also have the option of taking four (4) tires (without rims) to the West Volusia Transfer Station located at 3151 East New York Ave., DeLand, FL 32724 on Saturday only. The station is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays. For more information, call (386) 943-7899.
