LICENSED WASTE WATER OPERATOR (State of Florida Certified)

Two (2) Regular Full Time Vacancies (Position works 4 days per week – 10 hours)
Anticipated Hiring Rate of Pay:
- Operator I (Has current State of FL Class “C” Waste Water License): $18.36/hr. - $23.87/hr.;
- Operator II (Has current State of FL Class “CC” Waste Water License): $19.28/hr. - $25.06/hr.;
- Operator III (Has current State of FL Class “A” Waste Water License.): $20.24/hr. - $26.32/hr.
DEFINITION: Under general supervision, operates water and/or wastewater treatment process and facilities, controlling the variations of flow rates and processing methods. Employees in this classification perform technical level manual work. May direct work of other operators and trainees in accordance with FDEP regulations. May conduct training of new employees. Position is subject to being “on call” and working shift schedules and after normal City work hours as well as on weekends and holidays. This is an Emergency Essential position. Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Not all inclusive): Assists immediate supervisor in the training and supervision of operators, trainees, and maintenance helpers. May sign off on documentation of such individuals. Monitors gauges, meters and control panels; and controls variations and operating conditions of the treatment process. Records meter and gauge headings. Operates and maintains valves, motors, pumps and engines either manually or by remote control. Monitors and adjusts plant operations manually or by computer. Extracts samples and performs routine laboratory tests, documenting and certifying test results. Performs change-out of chemical containers and associated equipment as needed. May perform other utility related work including maintenance of lift stations, and responding to service orders for residents. Performs
scheduled plant inspections, certifying completion of such inspections in the facility check sheets and log books.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED is required. At least one (1) year of related experience and the required licenses listed below. APPLICANTS MUST HAVE WASTE WATER LICENSE AT TIME OF APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Florida driver’s license. For Operator I: Applicant MUST have a State of Florida Class “C” Waste Water license; For Operator II: State of Florida Class “CC” Waste Water License; For Operator III: State of Florida Class “A” Waste Water License.
