Anticipated Hiring Rate: $51,183 - $66,538 a year, Depending on Qualifications
DEFINITION: This is a professional level position which is responsible for managing, promoting, marketing, planning, and scheduling special events and programs at The Center of Deltona. Position is responsible for ensuring that the facility is cost neutral or revenue generating.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Not all inclusive): Promotes events to the community by developing and implementing effective marketing efforts to increase public awareness of, and use of the facility to include creating brochures, speaking events, trade shows, advertising, and social media outlets. Builds and maintains relationships with community groups, organizations, schools, etc. Meets with organizations, groups, and individuals interested in renting the facilities to review. Coordinates with caterers and other service providers for events and programs. Manages the logistics of all events including staffing, equipment, parking, and supplies. Recommends new or revised programs and activities through studies and reports. Evaluates existing programs and events. Follows up with clients
to ensure satisfaction with facilities. Manages the development, planning, implementation and organization of special events including large scale events at The Center. Managers all aspects of The Center of Deltona as a business entity with the goal that the facility is revenue generating. Researches and recommends fee schedules and rental terms for the facility. Works in conjunction with other City departments on large scale events. Manages the leasing of the Center with the goal of having The Center booked at or near capacity. Formulates the annual budget and manages the facility to ensure it is a cost neutral operation or revenue generating. Coordinates with City staff and Departments on all aspects of the facilities including contract management, logistics, staffing, insurance, liability, safety, etc. Supervises assigned staff as needed. Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field preferred, supplemented by five (5) years related experience and/or training in special events planning or marketing with a successful record of managing events from a revenue generating perspective. Three (3) years professional experience in leasing events. Government experience preferred. Public speaking/presenting experience required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
