The Deltona Fire Department offers various American Heart Association CPR and First Aid certifications to the public including Basic Life Support (BLS), Heartsaver CPR AED, and Heartsaver First Aid. Pre-registration is mandatory and there is a minimum requirement of four (4) students per class. Registration and the pick up of materials is at Fire Station 61 located at 1685 Providence Blvd. Registration closes two days prior to the class (on Thursday at 5:00pm).
Classes are held at Fire Station 65 located at 2983 Howland Blvd. Please call (386) 575-6901 for further information. Our office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm. We are closed for lunch between 12:00pm-1:00pm.
American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) Providers
Basic Life Support (BLS) Providers is a course designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals (ex. nurses, health aids, etc.) the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. This course is for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED & First Aid
Heartsaver CPR AED is a course designed specifically for laypeople. The program will teach students how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking. You will also learn to recognize the warning signs of a heart attack and stroke in adults and signs of breathing difficulty in children. Heartsaver First Aid is a course that covers the immediate care given to due injured or suddenly ill person. It is a temporary assistance that is rendered until competent medical care, if needed, arrives and takes over. The course will help students develop basic first aid knowledge, skills, and the confidence to respond. Properly applied first aid can save lives, reduce recovery time, and quite possibly be the difference between temporary disability or lifelong disability for a victim.
